Frequently
Asked Questions
Here
are questions that people have asked me about my comic. I answer
all questions that don't spoil the plot of the story. If you have
a question that you'd liked answered, email me (click copyright gif @ bottom of page).
What
do you want to do as a future career?
I've dreamed
of being a movie director since I was in 5th or 6th grade. I love
movies and believe they're an excellent "artistic medium"
to express one's vivid imagination. (My nickname ain't Dream Catcher
for no reason!)
Are
you ever going to publish DwtD?
NO, actually,
MAYBE. In the end (whenever that will be), if I believe DwtD to
be shelve worthy (and after I redo the first few chapters) then
I'll self publish it. Since I have no intention of becoming a
graphic novel artist/writer in the future I don't plan on moving
DwtD into a career (unless I happen to make it into a movie but
DwtD is really controversial so, at this current place in time,
it wouldn't do well commercially).
When
does Dealing with the Devil update?
Every Sunday
(with a few occasional Mondays)... sometimes rarely cause I've
got a life (as hard as it is to believe).
How tall are your characters?
By my guess...
Theo is probably around 5'6" to 5'7" ish while Sony is around
5'2" to 5'4". Lucifer is around 6' or 6'1" while Beelzebub is
a little shorter. Succubus is Sony's height more or less (she
wears heels which make her appear taller). Gabriel is a little
shorter than Theo but taller than Sony while Michael matches Lucifer's
height.
When
did you start creating Dealing with the Devil?
I started around
the end of summer in 2002. Mostly I was just playing with certain ideas
and thinking up characters. I only became serious about actually doing
the comic when I found some tutorials on Photoshop. After that, I began
coloring images of characters and other ideas. I finally started creating
profiles of the characters and writing the script for the story at the
beginning of the summer of 2003.
I read
through your site and I'm totally offended! I mean, Dealing with the
Devil?!
I'm sorry
if I offended you, this site is merely a web comic and not about
worshiping the devil or down-grading angels. I based several of
the ideas in this comic of angels in the Christian, Jewish, and
Muslim religion along with several stories. It doesn't follow
any particular "myth" in any of the religions to the
dote. Some things come straight out of the books (Koran, Bible)
while others come out of stereotypes (ie. angels have "rings"
for halos). Most importantly I use the concept of Heaven and Hell
(since it's present in all three religions) and question it's
vitality. But remember, this is just some made up story that came
out of the depths of a teenagers head and I'm not trying to affect
anyone's religion. If you consider this religious blasphemy then
I suggest you leave.
Why
are you doing a web comic?
My favorite
hobby is storytelling but I'm not a writer. Since I'm good at
art and love color I figured the best way to go about doing storytelling
would be through a web comic (especially after I saw the splendid
job Neondragon is doing). A web comic is extremely similar to
storyboard art (except there's positioning panals of different
sizes and better quality rendering), and, since I want to be a
director when I "grow up", being a storyboard artist
is a stepping stone to that position.
How
come some of the characters on the "Character" page are silhouettes
and don't have much information about them?
The characters
that are silhouettes are characters that haven't been exposed
in the comic yet. As the characters are introduced I'll add the
rest of the information and put on the 'real' profile picture
of them. The reason is because I don't want to give away any of
the story by introducing all the characters. Plus, it leaves the
readers something to look forward too ;P. |
